Our mission

To be a place where you feel heard, feel cared for, and feel HOPE...

Elle Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health was started in 2014 with a simple premise: To provide restorative evidence-based pelvic health treatment and resources for those in Central Alberta.  It is our goal to nurture and empower individuals in their understanding of their own bodies through intervention, education, exercise, and preventative health care. Our team believes that a collaborative, wholistic and client-centered approach is imperative. We work as a part of a multidisciplinary referral team to ensure that you receive the best treatment and opportunity for wellness.

The field of pelvic health is growing and new research is always emerging. Our staff regularly participates in continuing education and training in order to stay current on practice recommendations.

Nicole Schmitt (she/her)
Owner and Physiotherapist

Special Interests: Postpartum, Persistent and Sexual Pain,
Pessary Prescription and Pediatrics

Nicole is the founder and owner of Elle Physio as well as mama to 4 busy kids. She has been practicing as a clinical physiotherapist since 2004. Her very favorite thing is walking alongside women and empowering them in their journey to wellness. She is on the College roster and certified to perform internal pelvic examination and treatment. She is trained to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction, pediatric bowel and bladder issues, sexual pain disorders, prolapse, pre and postpartum clients, persistent pelvic pain and in the prescription of pessaries. Nicole serves as the chair of the Central Alberta Women's Health Association advocating for improved health services for women in our community. She is a member of the Women's Health Division of the CPA, the Canadian Society for Advancement of Gynecological Excellence, and the International Pelvic Pain Society. Joelle Sypkes (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health

Special Interests:pain with intercourse, post menopause, and
pediatric/teenage care

Joelle Sypkes has been a physical therapist since 2009, focusing in the area of pelvic health since 2017 at Elle Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health. She holds a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. Since graduating, Joelle has completed my CAFCI acupuncture certification and is on the acupuncture roster with the College. She has also completed extensive further education in the area of women's health/pelvic health and is on the roster for authorization for internal pelvic exams. Included in her training has been pilates for the pelvic floor, pediatric bowel and bladder education, physiotherapy post c-section, and more.  She is a current member of the Women's Health Division of the CPA and sits on two non-profit boards.  Joelle is also a wife and mother of two wonderful daughters, loves being outdoors, running, lifting weights, pilates and trying new things! Her family also loves to travel and see new places!

 

Joelle loves working in this field, and addressing any and all pelvic health concerns but if she had to pick her favorites they would be : pain with intercourse, post menopause and pediatric/adolescent care. She is also passionate about providing pelvic health to under-served populations.  She looks forward to walking alongside you in this healing journey.

Kelsey Moreau (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health 

Special Interests: Prolapse, Prenatal, Postpartum,
Return to Exercise, Pessary Prescription and
Colorectal Conditions

Kelsey has been serving the community of Central Alberta since 2010. She
has completed extensive pelvic health training in urinary incontinence, pelvic pain conditions, colorectal disorders, prolapse, menopause and visceral mobilization. She has also pursued advanced orthopaedic manual
therapy training (AIM level III) and holds a certificate in functional dry needling. Kelsey is a busy mama of 2 little girls and loves hiking, and camping in her spare time. She is a keen learner and goes above and beyond to offer excellence in care. Her passion is to empower female athletes to resume their sport and fitness activities. She also holds advanced education in the assessment and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and pessary fitting. Kelsey is a member of the Women's Health Division of the CPA. Kayla Williams (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health
Special Interests: Persistent Pain, Prenatal, Postpartum
and Return to Exercise

Kayla is a Central Alberta native and has a passion for empowering women to feel competent throughout the pregnancy and postpartum periods! She has additional training to provide support during deliveries, assist with concerns around breastfeeding and to rehabilitate women’s bodies that have sacrificed so much to bring beautiful lives into this world! Since graduating from the U of A with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2015, Kayla has completed additional courses in myofascial release, biomedical dry needling, and manual therapy while more recently focusing on chronic/persistent pain, pelvic floor related conditions, labour and delivery preparation and breastfeeding related conditions. Breastfeeding Physiotherapy is an emergent field of Physiotherapy, and Kayla is excited to be offering it here in Central Alberta! Physiotherapists in this area are trained to specialize in the management of mastitis, blocked ducts, breast inflammation, wound management, latch and positional issues, as well as Torticollis and oral myofascial issues in an infant. Emily Nadon (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health
Special Interests: Prenatal, Postpartum, Incontinence,
Persistent Pain,  Return to Exercise, Pessary Prescription and Men's Pelvic Health.

Emily was born and raised in Red Deer. She completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology through the U of C and her Master's of Physiotherapy through the U of A. She treats all musculoskeletal injuries, but has a passion for all things pelvic health. She has levels 1, 2 and 3 in pelvic floor training. She also has training in pessaries, menopause and loves working with pre-natal and post-partum mamas. She enjoys helping people return to activities and strength training after having babies. When she isn't helping others she is spending time with her family, her partner, and her dog blaze the border collie. She enjoys camping, hiking, strength training, snowboarding, XC skiing, climbing, and even pickleball the last few years.

Laura Christie (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health
Special Interests: Prenatal and postpartum, persistent pain
and pain with intercourse, oncology rehabilitation

Laura has worked as a physiotherapist since 2013 and brings with her years of experience working with orthopedic, neurological conditions and patients with cancer. Having 2 young children herself, Laura understands the need for sound women’s health care.  Along with training in treating pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence Laura holds certification in functional dry needling. Laura is a central Alberta native, and is excited to be serving the communities of Olds and Three Hills

Lundie Graham (she/her)
Contracted Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health
Special Interests: persistent pain, incontinence, return to exercise

d men's pelvic health 

Lundie became a physiotherapist in 2020 after working 10 years as a physiotherapy assistant. She completed her Bachelor of Science through Athabasca University and her Master's of Physiotherapy through Manchester Metropolitan University in England. Since graduating she has taken a keen interest in pelvic health and has completed level 1 and 2 in pelvic floor training. She also enjoys treating musculoskeletal injuries and is certified in functional dry needling. Lundie is passionate about helping individuals with persistent pain and providing guidance to women returning to exercise, and those competing in high level sport. In her spare time she is a mobility coach and competes in Olympic weight lifting. She also enjoys being outdoors golfing and hiking with her beautiful German shepherd, Mya. Amanda Laramee (she/her)
Contracted Occupational Therapist - Pelvic Health
Special Interests: pain with intercourse, female sexual function,
postpartum coping, persistent pelvic pain

Meet Amanda, a dedicated Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience in Central Alberta. Graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, Amanda has been helping clients of all ages on their rehabilitation journeys since 2008.

When Amanda became a mother to two amazing girls, her passion for women's health deepened. In 2019, she took a bold step and established her own private health coaching practice. Since then, Amanda has been providing personalized and group coaching services specifically tailored to women in the post-partum period. Her firsthand experience as a mother fueled her desire to empower and support women during this transformative phase of their lives.

At Elle, holistic care is at the core of our approach. Amanda recognizes that various factors can impact a person's ability to fully engage in their daily life. That's why she goes beyond traditional therapy methods, focusing on the whole person and addressing the physical, emotional, and social aspects of well-being.

Amanda is not only a certified Occupational Therapist but also holds a certification to perform internal pelvic examinations. This unique combination of qualifications allows her to provide comprehensive care to her clients. By integrating her love for coaching and women's empowerment with her extensive occupational therapy experience, Amanda offers a truly transformative and personalized approach to women's health.

Loreen Gray (she/her)

Administrative Lead

Loreen is here to help with everything behind the scenes. With several years of hotel and retail management experience her goal is to be the friendly voice answering the phone and keeping everything organized. Born in Saskatchewan she moved to Alberta in 2005 and has been living in Red Deer for the last 13 years. With her husband and 2 daughters you can often find her outside at a playground or walking the trails.

Our space

We want you to feel at ease when you enter the clinic. Our space is designed with your comfort in mind. Filled with natural fibres, local artwork and private quiet treatment rooms we hope you feel right at home when you walk through the door. 

Cancellations and billing

We understand that life is busy and things come up. If you can’t make your scheduled appointment, please give us minimum of 24 hours notice to avoid paying the cancellation/no-show fee. Your time is reserved especially for you. Cancellations made without 24 hours notice will be charged a 50% late cancellation fee, and no shows will be charged the full amount of the appointment. 

Elle Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health is a private, fee for service practice. Payment is due at each appointment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, debit, and cash. We are happy to provide you with an emailed or printed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. 

 Your privacy

Your privacy is important to us both while you're here, and while you're not. At Elle Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health we are committed to protecting the privacy of personal information. We will not disclose personal information without consent or reasonable and lawful notice except when required or permitted by law. We protect patient privacy by: 

  • Collecting only the personal information required to provide physiotherapy services.

  •  Advising you how your information might be disclosed and obtaining your consent

  •  Safeguarding your personal information.

  •  Sharing your personal information only for the purposes stated and agreed to in a signed consent form or otherwise permitted by law.

  •  Ensuring any contractors hired who may have access to your information also protects the privacy of your information.

  •  Training staff and adapting the office space to ensure maximum protection of your privacy.

  •  Ensuring personal information is current, complete and accurate.

  •  Providing you access to your personal information and a mechanism for requesting corrections.

  •  Having a Privacy Officer available to answer your questions.

  •  Periodically reviewing our privacy policy to ensure it provides adequate protection for your personal information.
